About Us

Hi! We are Sanders and Jay Fabares (pronounced FAB-ray—get it?!), a creative couple based in sunny San Diego, California.

Our collaborative journey began in 2015 when we launched The Pale. This webcomic allowed us to blend our love for dark mysteries and quirky drama with the rugged, beautiful backdrop of the American Southwest. To bring our stories to print, we founded Fab-Ray Comics. The Pale holds a special place in our hearts as our very first collaborative work together.

In 2021, we paused our comic production to focus on our most important collaboration yet: raising our daughter.

Now, it is 2026, and we are officially back! In addition to continuing The Pale, we are expanding our creative horizons. We are introducing Fab-Ray Books—our fresh new imprint and creative home for stories that step outside the universe of The Pale. From graphic novels to new storytelling formats, if an idea sparks our imagination, we are going to bring it to life right here.
